چکیده

INTRODUCTION Common anxiety disorders include panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and social phobias. The brain circuitry associated with anxiety remains to be fully elucidated. Investigators have used a number of imaging modalities including positron emission tomography for imaging the brain during induced anxiety states. We report here the first fMR1 study of an intravenous caffeine model of anxiety in the human brain.

Integrating fMRI data into 3D conventional radiotherapy treatmentplanning of brain tumors

Introduction: This study was aimed to investigate the beneficial effects of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data in treatment planning for patients with CNS tumors in order to decrease the injury of functional regions of the brain followed by increase in life quality and survival of patients. This study pursues a novel approach in planning for the treatment of brai...

Using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to explore brain function: cortical representations of language critical areas

Pre-operative determination of the dominant hemisphere for speech and speech associated sensory and motor regions has been of great interest for the neurological surgeons. This dilemma has been of at most importance, but difficult to achieve, requiring either invasive (Wada test) or non-invasive methods (Brain Mapping). In the present study we have employed functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging...

Combined MEG and fMRI model

An integrated model for magnetoencephalography (MEG) and functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) is proposed. In the proposed model, MEG and fMRI outputs are related to the corresponding aspects of neural activities in a voxel. Post synaptic potentials (PSPs) and action potentials (APs) are two main signals generated by neural activities. In the model, both of MEG and fMRI are related to t...

Storm in a coffee cup: caffeine modifies brain activation to social signals of threat.

Caffeine, an adenosine A₁ and A(2A) receptor antagonist, is the most popular psychostimulant drug in the world, but it is also anxiogenic. The neural correlates of caffeine-induced anxiety are currently unknown. This study investigated the effects of caffeine on brain regions implicated in social threat processing and anxiety. Participants were 14 healthy male non/infrequent caffeine consumers....
